Lucy Blown

Principal Optometrist and Owner

MSc BSc (hons) MCOptom Prof Cert Glauc

Lucy graduated from City University in 2006 with BSc (hons). Lucy has a MSc in Clinical Optometry and Professional Certificate in Glaucoma, as well as being accredited to carry out Minor Eye Care Services and Emergency appointments. Lucy runs our Community Glaucoma Clinics at Eye Folk. Lucy has a wealth of experience in different areas of Optometry, and currently holds several professional roles.

Lucy grew up locally and is from a family of Optometrists. Owning her own independent practice has always been the aim, as she is passionate about providing a high level of eye care, putting the patients first, with no restrictions on time or service.

Lucy lives in nearby Deal with her Husband and Son. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time out and about with her son and looking after all their pets.

Ann Rule

Practice Manager and Dispensing Optician

Ann has recently joined the team as Practice Manager and Dispensing Optician, having worked across a range of Optical businesses for over 30 years.

She brings with her a wealth of experience in frame and lens knowledge and uses this to provide a personalised recommendation for patients, always ensuring the best possible solution for their needs.

Ann lives in Hythe with her partner and their cat. She enjoys long walks by the sea and canal, and loves to socialise in the local bars and restaurants.

Sheema Ravat

Optometrist

BSc MCOptom

Sheema qualified in 1991 and since then has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. Sheema is accredited to carry out our Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS), along with our detailed Eye Examinations and Contact Lens appointments.

She is also an Assessor for the College of Optometrists’, a visiting clinical tutor at City University and has volunteered for Vision Aid Overseas – most recently on a project to Ethiopia.

Abbey

Assistant Manager​

Abbey joined Eye Folk in 2021, with 14 years experience in Optics. 

Abbey is an expert at choosing frames and always knows what styles and shapes will suit patients, while also providing the best comfort and optimum vision.  Abbey is very personable and always provides exceptional customer service, going out her way to make sure our patients are happy.

When Abbey isn’t at work, she has a young family that keep her busy and she also runs her own small business. 

Lucy

Senior Optical Assistant​

Lucy joined us at Eye Folk in early 2022, having already worked in Optics for 18 years.

Lucy has excellent knowledge in lens designs and frame suitability, having had previous experience in spectacle glazing labs. She can give our patients excellent recommendations for their spectacles.

Lucy is extremely organised and keeps the practice running smoothly for us.

When she isn’t at work she is kept busy by her 2 dogs Luna and Bailey

Optical Assistant

Melanie has worked in Optics for more years than she is willing to say! Melanie is very knowledgeable on lens designs and is always very honest in her recommendations, many coming from experience.

Melanie has lived in Folkestone for many years, having raised her 3 children here and she is now loving having Grandchildren. In her spare time, Melanie loves crafts, and makes some lovely greetings cards.

Optical Assistant

Sean joined the team at Eye Folk in July 2025.
Sean brings his wealth of experience in the travel and hospitality industries to Eye Folk, ensuring great customer service and a warm welcome to all who step through the door.
Sean enjoys watching rugby and going to the pub, and spending time with his niece and nephew, Isla and James.

The Hearing Health Clinic - services available at Eye Folk

Beth graduated with a first-class degree in Audiology from Anglia Ruskin University, earning the award for the highest clinical skills results in her graduating year. She loves the problem-solving aspect of audiology, and her clinical expertise plays a key role in finding the best solutions for her patients.

What Beth enjoys most about her job is getting to know the people she’s helping. Over the years, she has built strong relationships with her patients and believes that personal service makes a real difference.

Outside of work, Beth loves spending time with family and friends at the beach and going on bike rides with her kids. She also has a passion for making sparkling fruit wines—a perfect mix of science and creativity! Find out more about Hearing Care services at Eye Folk here.
