Lucy Blown

Principal Optometrist and Owner

Lucy graduated from City University in 2006 with BSc (hons). Lucy has a MSc in Clinical Optometry and Professional Certificate in Glaucoma, as well as being accredited to carry out Minor Eye Care Services and Emergency appointments. Lucy has a wealth of experience in different areas of Optometry, and currently holds several professional roles.

Lucy grew up locally and is from a family of Optometrists. Owning her own independent practice has always been the aim, as she is passionate about providing a high level of eye care, putting the patients first, with no restrictions on time or service.

Lucy lives in nearby Deal with her Husband and Son. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time out and about with her son and looking after all their pets!Lucy

Donna Thompson

Donna graduated from Ulster University in 2015 with BSc (hons). Since graduating she has gained a variety of experience in different areas of Optometry.

She is accredited to carry out Minor Eye Care Services/Emergency appointments.

Donna enjoys working in independent practice where she can always put the needs of the individual patient first.

Donna lives locally with her Fiancé. In her spare time, she enjoys baking Gluten Free cakes and treats, and spending time outdoors by the sea.

BSc MCOptom

Sheema qualified in 1991 and since then has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. Sheema is accredited to carry out our Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS), along with our detailed Eye Examinations and Contact Lens appointments.

She is also an Assessor for the College of Optometrists’, a visiting clinical tutor at City University and has volunteered for Vision Aid Overseas – most recently on a project to Ethiopia.

Trainee Dispensing Optician

Josh has worked in Optics since leaving school. He likes meeting lots of different people at Eye Folk and helping them find spectacle frames that they love. He is knowledgeable in lens designs and benefits, especially Varifocals, having worn them himself since childhood.

He has recently started studying with ABDO College to become a Dispensing Optician, which he is enjoying. He is looking forward to putting all his new knowledge into practice.

Josh has recently moved to Folkestone and is enjoying getting to know the area. In his spare time (when he isn’t studying!), Josh likes to collect music and listen to vinyl, explore new places and socialise with friends.

Optical Assistant

Mandy joined Eye Folk in 2020, coming from a customer service and healthcare background. She is currently completing an Optical Assistant Course with ABDO College and is exceeding expectations.

Mandy really enjoys her role here at Eye Folk, as it is a mix of healthcare, customer service, and even fashion!

Mandy grew up in Folkestone and has 3 children (2 grown up now!). In her spare time, she likes socialising/meeting new people, walking, reading and spending time with her family.

Optical Assistant

Melanie has worked in Optics for more years than she is willing to say! Melanie is very knowledgeable on lens designs and is always very honest in her recommendations, many coming from experience.

Melanie has lived in Folkestone for many years, having raised her 3 children here and she is now loving having Grandchildren. In her spare time, Melanie loves crafts, and makes some lovely greetings cards.
